2015 Project 365, Day 221: Grissini Ristorante Marikina

I have found the best Italian restaurant in Marikina: the newly opened Grissini Ristorante along Gil Fernando Avenue! From their complimentary breadsticks and ciabatta bread to our main courses, everything was tasty!

Their breadsticks aren’t as hard nor as bland as some popular Italian/pizza restaurants’. On the other hand, the ciabatta was like a smooth and puffy sponge, making it easy to absorb (i.e. SIMUTIN or finish all) the olive oil-balsamic vinegar mixture. Even without the dip, both the breadsticks and ciabatta tasted good!

For our salad, we chose the Insalata Dello Chef, which has mixed greens, apples, grapes, oranges, almonds, and raspberry vinaigrette. Everything tasted great, albeit the greens were a little bitter. The vinaigrette wasn’t overwhelming, while the nuts added a nice crunchy texture.

Our pasta was the Spaghetti Maremonte, which has shrimps, clams, squid, and a generous amount of pomodoro sauce. At first glance, Leo and I thought the spaghetti seemed past al dente, but it wasn’t! The sauce had the right acidity, something that can make or break any tomato-based pasta (or dish).

Finally, I believe the star of this place is their PIZZA! We tried the Capriciosa, which has Italian sausage, pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, bacon, bell pepper, onions, anchovies, and two kinds of cheeses: mozzarella and Parmesan! I’m so glad that Grissini serves thin crust pizzas, and every slice has a crunchy crust, but a chewy center! I also enjoyed their chili oil! Winner! I asked for some of it for take out! Haha!

Based on what we ordered, it seems like most of their offerings are good for sharing. The place has a nice ambiance, too! They are located almost in front of Beeffalo. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

  1. If a chilli oil is good enough to want to take home it must be a winner – there is a thai place in BA which used to give little tubs of chilli sauce as an accompaniment, I used to try and pocket as many as possible… maybe too many did this and that’s why they stopped doing it!
