2020 Project 366, Day 73: Ube-Cheese Pandesal

Last week, I tried Dekada 90’s ube-cheese pandesal, and I was disappointed. Their filling’s quite good, but the rest of the bread, not really. Then I found this one from Chubbies Qcina Cafe, and I will definitely come back for more! Cheaper pa at P50 for 5 pieces vs. the former at P90 for 6 pieces.



2015 Project 365, Day 74: Chubbies Qcina Cafe

After 8 months, we finally had the chance to eat at Chubbies Qcina Cafe again, and we were not disappointed!

Our cheesy bacon penne pasta was smothered with cheese sauce and bacon slices (not bits, mind you)! The spicy porkchop came along with a generous serving of mushroom sauce that just the thought of it makes my mouth water! And my gosh, I was reminded that Chubbies offers the best burger along Lilac Street: their original Chubbies burger! It was so big, I had to take more than half of it home since we had pasta and a rice meal already. I love the way the patty was grilled, and what’s even more admirable is the fact that Chubbies bakes their own bread. 🙂

Before going there, I told Leo that we shouldn’t order any dessert anymore since my ref is full of birthday sweets. However, we were treated to a nice surprise thanks to the very friendly owner, Marie Joy, who sent us a piece of chewy, gooey, moist, and warm chocolate crinkle! Ay nako, it was so good, we finished it even if we were already full!

Chubbies is definitely one of the food places I’d recommend you to try if you’re along Lilac Street in Marikina! They are now located in front of China Bank! The place is bigger and better looking than their previous location! 😀



2014 Project 365, Day 75: Another lunch date

Because we won’t be seeing each other for 2 weeks, including my birthday (work + he has an Ilocos trip), this was an early birthday celebration. Had lunch again at Chubbies Qcina Cafe, and man, their offerings are really delicious and worth every peso. I had spicy pork steak with mushroom sauce, while Leo ordered buffalo chicken (came with fries because the rice was still uncooked) and a massive Italian soda (Sprite with strawberry bits, so yummy!!). We also shared an order of tinapa pasta, which was really good! For dessert, we really planned to have crème brûlée, so we were absolutely delighted when our waitress served us one and told us that it’s on the house! Awesome! 😀
